Therapy Services

Integrative, trauma-informed therapy for adults and couples in Los Angeles — offered in person and by telehealth.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy offers a place to slow down and listen more carefully to what is happening beneath the surface of your life.

You may be functioning well externally while privately feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, ashamed, or uncertain about what comes next. You may recognize recurring patterns but find that understanding them has not been enough to change them.

Together, we may explore your current circumstances, earlier experiences, relationships, emotional patterns, protective strategies, bodily responses, and the meanings you have made from what you have lived through.

Individual therapy may support you with:

  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress responses
  • Anxiety and chronic nervous-system activation
  • Emotional overwhelm or shutdown
  • Grief and complicated loss
  • Relationship concerns
  • Family-of-origin dynamics
  • Shame and harsh self-criticism
  • Boundaries and people-pleasing
  • Identity and belonging
  • Major life transitions
  • Disconnection from emotions or bodily experience
  • Questions of meaning, spirituality, and purpose

The work may be focused and practical, exploratory and depth-oriented, or a combination of both.

Couples Therapy

Couples often seek therapy when they feel caught in a pattern neither person knows how to interrupt.

One partner may pursue while the other withdraws. A disagreement about one subject may quickly become connected to years of hurt, fear, resentment, or feeling unseen. Both people may care deeply about the relationship while continuing to protect themselves in ways that create more distance.

In couples therapy, the relationship itself becomes the client. The goal is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to understand the pattern that has developed between you and what each person may be protecting beneath the conflict.

Couples therapy may address:

  • Communication difficulties
  • Recurring arguments
  • Emotional distance
  • Differences in needs for closeness or independence
  • Trust and relationship repair
  • Attachment injuries
  • Intimacy and vulnerability
  • Boundaries with family or outside relationships
  • Major transitions
  • Premarital concerns
  • Questions about commitment
  • Decisions about the future of the relationship

I work to create space for each partner's experience while helping the couple develop a more honest, responsive, and emotionally connected way of relating. Couples therapy is not appropriate in every situation. When there is ongoing violence, coercive control, or a lack of basic safety, individual support or other specialized services may be recommended.

Trauma and Somatic Therapy

Trauma can affect much more than memory. It may shape the way you breathe, sleep, relate to others, respond to conflict, experience your body, or anticipate danger.

Some people experience obvious fear or intrusive memories. Others notice perfectionism, emotional numbness, chronic tension, digestive distress, difficulty resting, disconnection, irritability, or a strong need to remain in control.

Somatic Experiencing offers a gentle way to work with these responses by paying attention to what is happening in the nervous system in manageable amounts.

Rather than moving directly into the most painful part of an experience, we may begin by strengthening your ability to notice support, stability, choice, and moments of ease. We can then gradually approach difficult sensations or emotions without overwhelming the system.

This process is sometimes described as building capacity: increasing your ability to remain present with an experience while also staying connected to the here and now.

Somatic therapy may be helpful for:

  • Childhood trauma
  • Relational or attachment trauma
  • Sexual trauma
  • Medical trauma
  • Accidents or frightening events
  • Chronic stress
  • Grief
  • Anxiety and panic
  • Freeze, collapse, or shutdown responses
  • Difficulty identifying or expressing emotions
  • Feeling disconnected from the body
  • Repeated patterns of overactivation and exhaustion

Somatic work does not require touch. Any body-based practice will be explained and offered as an invitation rather than a demand. You can decline, pause, or redirect the process at any time.

Finding the Right Fit

The relationship between therapist and client is an important part of the work. A consultation gives us an opportunity to discuss what you are looking for, answer questions about my approach, and consider whether working together feels appropriate.

When another clinician or resource would better meet your needs, I will be honest about that and offer referrals whenever possible.

A consultation is a brief conversation to see whether working together feels right. No forms, no commitment.
